About
A Message from Lexi’s Parents:
It seems that every child, at some point, has a crayon or marker in his or her hand and is drawing on paper: bright yellow suns on blue skies, smiling stick figures, green lawns, billowy trees, houses, cats, dogs – a host of unique figures that capture a child’s perceptions on paper. And while many children enjoy drawing and digging into the crayon box to find the perfect color for their creations, we recognized Lexi’s artistic focus from a very young age. From the time she could walk, coloring, painting, drawing and sketching captured her attention. When she was two and three years old, we noticed just how focused she became when she started to draw. Even at those tender ages, her attention to detail and her ability to draw for hours on end seemed remarkable.
As she drew, we wondered, “Is Lexi really good at this or are we just proud parents?” After questioning this for a number of years and drawings, there was one instance that led us to conclude that Lexi did, in fact, have a talent for art. When her art teacher showed us the painting of the silhouetted palm tree at right, the questions were gone. Lexi completed a painting that was better than anything either one of us could have done - and she was five years old.
From that time, we have been fortunate to find art teachers that have not only helped Lexi develop her skills but also encouraged her to embark on her own creative path. It is our hope that this website will allow you to enjoy Lexi’s creations as much as she enjoys creating them.
The Artist:
Hello, and thank you for visiting my website! My name is Lexi McGrath, I am 12 years old and live in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC. I have always had a love for drawing. In fact, I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t doing some type of art - probably because I have been taking private art lessons since I was 5 years old! I enjoy drawing a wide variety of things from landscapes to portraits but my favorite is sketching pets. I have included in my portfolio several sketches of cats and dogs that I have done for others. I have also included my own crazy cats: Atlas and Skeeter!
I have been hiking with my mom in the NC mountains for as long as I can remember. I enjoy seeing waterfalls and taking pictures of wildlife and the many beautiful trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway and using those pictures as the subjects of my drawings and paintings.
I am very grateful for the support that my parents have given me, and for making it possible for me to have art lessons and further my love of drawing and painting.
Please take some time to check out my work. I would love to create something for you! Please contact me here with any questions that you might have.
